Small Computer Problem

I've had my new computer running now for about a week and a half and after ironing out a few troubles everything seemed to be fine. However I've discovered one problem, nothing serious but still annoying. Using programs like Everest and nTune the computer completely locks up but it runs everything else fine. I don't need to run those programs but it would be nice to. Any ideas why those programs lock up? Maybe something to do with the motherboard?

The Computer:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (939)
Gigabyte K8NXP-9 nForce 4 Ultra
1024MB Kingmax DDR400
Gigabyte 6600GT
160GB Seagate SATA HDD
NEC 3520A DVD Writer
Audigy 2 ZS

No.. I would not think it has anything to do with the hardware.. what I would suggest as a last resort is just to stick everything on the backup drive(assuming you have one) and reformat the OS, it smells like an OS problem to me.

Thanks for the reply,

I would be happy to reformat the drive to see if that fixed it but I can't really be bothered after installing lots of stuff. If it had been like a day or 2 after I first had the computer I'd give it a go but I think I'll just try and live with it unless anyone else thinks differently about the problem.

You really should just reinstall windows and all your apps... That's why you get a second drive.

Try the following things and see if your problem still exists:

Disable CPU Center Spread
Set Memory Voltage to 2.8v

Also just to make sure, you aren't using 4x256mb chips correct?
