I have done a search one it but the only thing I was able to find was that "the PS and VS can communicate with one another and be unified into one command, which decreases the hardware and software requirements" (something to that effect). So what does this mean, that you will need half the amount of dedicated Shader pipelines or something?

No. It means that there won't be "pixel" and "vertex" shaders anymore, but a "unified" shader architecture where any shader can execute any commands.

Also, as noted, Microsoft has renamed the next version of DirectX (set to ship with Longhorn) to Windows Graphics Foundation (WGF). Searching on that should turn up plenty of information.
