Musicians are respected for CREATING music, not playing it. If it's easy to play, it just makes it that much more impressive that they were the first ones to create it.

I'm a metal head by heart and love me some good guitar work, but that doesn't mean I'm so short sighted that I can't appreciate anything that doesn't cause bleeding fingers. Nirvana was pretty catchy and pretty much wrapped up an entire generation with their sound. You don't have to like them, but the least you can do is respect a group who has achieved more success than everybody in your family that's living today combined. I can't stand the Beatles, but they were the shit back in the day for a reason. That doesn't mean they suck, it just means I don't like them.

I'd say so too. We've already forgotten about spears, and her music isn't really topping the charts anymore. She sparked, fizzled, and died with pop and boy bands. Nirvana got popular maybe a decade before Britney, and they're still popular. And don't blame Kurt offing himself on that, as if he didn't they would have put out more albums and they'd be even fresher in our minds.
