Everytime after i open 2 or more IE windows, my pc comes to a crawl when playing games even after i close all the windows and all other programes. I have to reboot and start the game.

Why is this so, are other progames running in the background which i'm not aware of? I also notice that the hdd led will flash every 3 secs or so. I've already defragged the hdd, ran virus,spyware/malware scans. Thanks.

What are the specs of your PC? What antimalware do you use? Have you used a cleaner like ATF or CCleaner? Does it run better in Safe Mode? How much free space is on your HD?

With XP, repeatedly tab F8 after start up, select safe mode on screen. Not enough free space. I don't know if XP will run very well on 10G HD, even with nothing else installed.

It looks like a 7-10GB partition is the suggested minimum. So you should move or delete a lot of stuff, until you get 5GB free space (50% if it is the 10G HD). Other opinions may be different.

My mistake, i've got 278gb free space on my wd hdd master drive. It's a new rig.

Nope, nothing installed except some mp3 files and 5gb pagefile, which still leaves me with 2gb free space on the 10gb hdd.

As long as your PC is bootable, I find this program is really convenient. BootSafe, it should get you in safe mode.
What's Running & autoruns programs may help see what is going. I use Firefox, not used to IE. What is you AV, is it a suite?
