well got my 2 belkin pci wireless cards today, and my hopes of having a wireless file server have virtually vanished. less than 4 feet apart with nothing but open air between them, regardless of channel, maximum sustained thorughput is around 90KB/sec. that's ridiculous. that's not even 1mbit, let alone 11. Windows + the belkin software claim my connection is "excellent", but this is what I get. Has anyone else had a similar experience with this setup? Is it ad-hoc? What's the problem here?

11Mb/sec.??? Optimally you should get 4-6Mb/sec.

Excellent signal is good; unfortunately it can be full of noise.

Make sure you do not have a noise source (2.4GHz Phone, Microwave etc.).

Check the configuration menu to make sure that it is not set to 1Mb/sec.

Make the initial trail with WEP Off.

Try to Uninstall, and reinstall the drivers.

Check Belkin site for updates.

hmm... last night I changed rooms (should be close to 0 interference) and noticed one interesting peculiarity. While the intial connection on one computer claims 11mb, as soon as I start transfering stuff the little windows network icon for the wireless connection changes from 11/5/2mb to 1mb. Moving the computers within a foot of each other didn't make any difference. Should I be RMA'ng these cards or what?
