Remove it, what are you using it for?

If you are running a real DB, boot time wouldn't matter because you wouldn't be rebooting that thing on a regular basis anyways.

Active Directory was designed for dedicated, stand-alone servers which you obviously aren't running...

 
Can't you disable the active directory service? And enable it only when you need it (are screwing around with it), and then disable it afterwards?
