Slow WiFi :(

Hey Guys,

I have a Sony Laptop with Built in N. I have a pretty new wireless G router (WPN824v3) I also have a second WPN acting as a Repeater.

Im transfering some pictures over from my desktop in another room. Im only seeing 1.62MB/sec

Is this normal? According to the windows manager My signal is perfect. Im also running some Linksys webcams.

Why is this speed so slow?

thanks guys. I thought I should be getting at leat 3.

Physically impossible with 802.11g even in perfect conditions. If you want to improve performance force the router to 802.11g mode only.

The best I ever saw from 802.11g was 2.4MB/sec. sustained transfer (SuperG was capable for a little more).

I think pictures trasnfer slower. Im getting 2.24MB/sec transfering an ISO file.

If it is so important make an big ZIP, or ISO Files from number of pictures and transfer them.

It doesn't matter if they are pictures or text. It's all the overhead with the different files that would slow it down, especially with windows file sharing. That crap has so much overhead it's not even funny.
