Slow Startup in WinXP

I recently installed some software and have had problems starting up since then. Of course I uninstalled it, but that didn't help.

Basically WinXP loads up...halts...then finishes loading up. I've use REGCLEAN to remove any unwanted startup apps...but the application causing this isn't in there.

What else can I use to get rid of this?

Thanks

The first that comes to mind is to do a system restore or if that feature is disabled then boot from the XP CD and choose the repair option.

Thanks Mucho.

I tried System restore but I couldn't go back far enough to offset the problem. I will try to the repair option as soon as I find my WinXP CD 🙂

UPDATE: I tried logging in through repair and it asks for the Administrators password? I don't have one so I just pressed enter...wrong....then I went into XP and created one....Go back to repair and enter the password that I created for admin account...didn't work.

WTF?

Not sure if this will cure your problem but you could try Google searching with "fastboot xp". The tool is aimed at reducing your xp boot up times.
