I'm running essentially a fresh install of Windows XP SP2, but it takes 2-3 minutes to restart or shutdown. Anyone have any ideas what it is? Here's a copy of the logfile from Hijackthis:

Nothing out of the ordinary that would be lagging my system. There is no system activity by the way while shutting down. If there is, my computer isn't detecting it.

By the way, it isn't hanging on "Windows is shutting down..." or anything like that. It hangs when I tell it to shutdown. I can still do stuff like close boxes and what not, but it doesn't progress to the shutdown stage. After a few minutes, then it shuts down.

I also tried disabling nvsvc32.exe like many websites told me to, but still doesn't shutdown quickly.

Should I try a fresh new format and see how it goes? It essentially is formatted though.

before formatting why don't you head over to DH.net and download 'DH TuneXP' (link in the left menu section)... its a small basic tweaking program for xp and includes a 'fast shutdown' tweak that could help you out! :)

it has no spyware adware or anything else, great lil proggy!

My system boots up fine. Only shutdown so I'm guessing its hanging on some software. But I can't figure what. This is basically a clean install mind you so I don't know how it would be hanging. I didn't install any new programs I never previouslly had on any other system so I'm familiar with all my programs. I'll try that program and registry edit though.

Neither worked. I'm thinking of using my spare HDD and installing a fresh copy of Windows to see if the program occurs again. I'm so frustrated with this. It's like bugging me! At least I'm not taking a performance hit from all this.

Okay, I found out the problem. It was iTouch for my Logitech Elite keyboard. Anyone know why this would cause your computer to hang on reboot? Maybe I'll try the newest drivers 2.22 instead of the 2.15 that came with the CD.

Edit: Problem solved with the newest driver. How odd that an old driver would cause my computer to hang though.
