Slow reading with CloneCD

Have a problem with CloneCD writing and image file with almost all PC Games.

it will take around 3-6 minutes before it even gets to 1%.but once it gets to a certain point (after protection maybe?) it starts running fine.
but takes around 12 Mins before it starts at a regular pace.

Heres my Specs:

Teac 12x10x32 Burner
10x32 EPO DVD Drive (DVD-8210)
CloneCD 3.3.4.1
Win98SE

(Games tried)
Black&White
Sims
Sims House Party

only setting i changed when reading is the "Fast Error Skip".

after it reads an image file the burning process is smooth with no problems.

If anyone knows what the problem is i'd appreciate the help.
or might it be the Drives that i have?

the Teac reads quicker then the DVD Drive.

When you are copying go to tool/log you will see all the unreadable sectors (usually SD2 approx 10,000) that are slowing the read down. This is fairly typical.

Just to confirm that that slow start is quite normal in Clone CD, I always read at 1X to make sure I get a good image before I make any copies.
