slow raid drivers....ata???

i have 2 maxtor ata133 hd's but when i do hdtach test i am only doing about ~average read speed = 40425kps. Now normal ata133 raid 0 drives do about 60000kps. I have the newest and coorect drivers also. is there a way i can see if my hd is at ata133? I know i have an 80pin round ide cable so that cant b the problem. what is making it go so crappy? PLEASE help...thank you
