I want to know what happens to all the systems that are like 500 Mhz. Less then half a year ago, that was what the main speed on dell.com was. Now you cant get any systems that are that slow. What happened to all those systems. Did dell take them apart? What happened to all the pieces? Are these systems sitting in a warehouse somewhere? Does anyone know where they are?

I would love to know what happens to all these systems. Anyone have any inside information?

According to a report that I read or heard concerning Dell, they have about a six day turnaround on pc components. Who knows if that is true? Not me.

Enjoy your day,
Raymond

I figure if Dell wants to make money they sell their goodies before they become undesireable without having
to take a big loss on them. I knew a guy several years back who was a purchasing agent for Packard Bell
and he went to the factorys in the Orient where a lot of their stuff was produced. He said that PB made a killing
on computer systems if they were able to "manage" the "dead" or "dying" inventory costs......

Dell uses Just-in-time production. So they may not actually have the parts for something when you order it, but know that their supplier can get it to them by the time they need it to build your computer.(or more accureately) Dell probably can guess how much of something they will sell, and their supplier brings them just that amount intime to build it, and errors can be corrected for on the next day.

So all those 500mhz computers dell advertised, never really existed(for the most part) except for the ones shipped to customers.
