Slow Networking in XP

I've been having a huge problem with networking in XP Pro. I'm running a PIII 800 with Negear 311 NIC and Firewire card. Before formatting everytime I rebooted I had to reload my NIC drivers.
Then I found out that to fix that problem I just had to bridge the Network between my NIC and firewire card. I am also running Internet Connection Sharing. Now my roommate can download
from my comp and the full 100 (we are running a 10/100 Switch and he has a Netgear 310 NIC). But when I download from his comp it takes me about 3.5 mins to download a 5MB file. Both of us
are CCNA certified and he is MCSE certificed and neither of us can figure this problem out. Any help ya could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thx!
