I only receive transferrates around 2-8 Mb/s between computer A and B on my gigabit lan. Before we're going into details, any quick ideas/suggestions on what could be improved? I should also mention that Computer A is having a 100% CPU utilization whenever I access it "heavily" over the network (file copying, streaming videos, etc...) I've tried a few different NIC's in Computer A... same bad results....

Switch: Dlink DGS-1008D

Computer A (server)
===============
cpu: pentium 4 celeron 2.4 ghz
ram: 512 mb dimm sdram pc2700
mainboard: asus p4v8x (lan, audio, usb2.0)
nic: jaht realtek gigabit lan
systemdisk: 1 x 9gb scsi 10krpm seagate cheeta
storage: 5 x 200gb sata/pata 7200rpm western digital
os: windows xp professional sp2

Computer B (workstation)
===============
cpu: pentium 4 HT 3.0 @ 3.25 ghz
ram: 1024 mb dimm sdram pc3200
mainboard: shuttle fb75
nic: broadcom netxtreme gigabit (integrated)
case: shuttle sb75g2
graphic: hercules prophet radeon 9800xt 256 mb agp 8x
harddrive: 1 x 74gb 10krpm western digital raptor
extra harddrive: 1 x 80gb 7200rpm ibm deskstar gxp in mobile closure
os: windows xp professional sp2

Thanks!

sounds like bad drivers? the slow b/w would be explained if the cpu was hitting %100 when reaching 8mb, and it shouldnt be maxing the cpu that fast unless there was some issue with the driver.
