Ok we have a formerly ATT connection (now insightbb.com) and only have two registered computers with them. we want to add two more. We currently have the third one trying to connect. It's really slow..only IM works and browsing is EXTRMELY slow. We're all running XP and using a Linksys Befsr41. whats the problemo here?

Thanks

Try a different cable between the third machine and the hub/switch/router (most likely).

Verify that the machine is using the correct spped/duplex settings on the NIC (next most likely).

(from here out it's a crap shoot, take 'em in any order)

Try another port on the hub/switch/router.

Verify that the NIC drivers are correct and current .

Verify the NIC settings in BIOS are not conflicting with other devices.

Remove any protocols that you are not using (Netbeui, IPX, AppleTalk, etc - compare 'em to the other machines)

Try another NIC.

Good Luck

Scott

Ok here's the thing. We hooked up another computer and that one worked fine. Its definately a problem with the network card or settings on the problem computer. the network card is new. AIM still works, browsing is still extremely slow. How do I check the correct speed/duplex settings on the NIC?

Thanks
