Wow, that was pretty cool. I was watching it and started remembering some of my chemistry and physics because I was thinking "Why did it do that?". But it all makes sense, The lightning was ionizing a path to ground, once the path was established the rest of the charge flowed through.

I'd say the entire event lasted 2-3 seconds. Time the slowed down video. Do the math from there and you will also be able to figure frame rate.

I think high speed cameras can shoot in the 1500-3000 frames per second, but I think digital high speed cameras are reaching much higher than that.
