Slow left lane drivers

Once I leave the highway I need to take a long boring, one-lane road. The road is about 1 mile long and almost always empty. The suggested speed (yellow sign) on that road is 35MPH but everybody is doing 50 and some people (i.e. yours trully) drive at 60 or so. Anyways, every once in a while some jerk would be driving at 20-30mph, enjoying the scenery. Trust me, there's nothing worse that being stuck in a middle of a forest doing 25mph, behind some idiot who's probably afraid he's gonna run off the road if he goes a little faster.

Don't do that 🙁. You risk getting rearended and that's no fun.

Flicking high beam at me in right lane is signaling me to smile at you through rear view, then flip the thing at bottom of my rear view mirror to let you know you're ignored.
>>

ARGH!!! :disgust: If you're on the highway and someone flashes their brights at you, that means they're asking for a pass. Not only is it a courtesy that they do so... but it's actually in some books as proper procedure. It's in there for NY for sure! So if you're not moving over to let me pass on the highway, you're being a bastard and you are suck, you're also "breaking the law". Why is it that the majority of people don't know that?!?! :|

Oh, and slamming on your brakes with me... doesn't do squat since I'm not tailgating you, I'd just pull into the adjacent lane and go around... not exactly what I wanted, but I get to pass.

75-80 in some places and some roads is slow... being slower than normal traffic = BAD. 80 might be the norm and you're hoggin the fast lane which is for people hitting close to or actual triple digits.

Sometimes, if I'm pissed off enough, I'll cut in front after a pass, and then spray my rear washer... IN YOUR FACE...
Yes, I'm guilty of going slow on one-laners, but only if I KNOW that strip is a giant speed trap... and I'm not getting a ticket so you can go fast... especially since my car is friggin "Copbait Red"

Dude, the road is one mile long! That means going at your normal speed (60), It'll take you appox. ONE MINUTE. Chill man! Does the 20 seconds really make such a huge difference?

He said if he were in the RIGHT lane. Not left. Read people, READ! 😛

I experience that before also. On my way home, I need to drive 1 mile into my neighborhood in a 1 lane road. Mostly car drove around 45mph, and speed limit is 30. Once awhile, there's people drive around 20mph. Ususally I stay claim and just follow it. But one night! It's 2 freakin a.m. That guy infront of me driving 20mph and constantly breaking. There's no signature of a drunk and drive, because you can tell that he's following the road and made all the curve. So I just got pissed off and go to opposite lane and speed-up and cut him right off. Haha....

Oh, for the highway thing, 60mph on the left lane? I can never stand that! Usually I cut of to other lane and cut him off, but for your case, um.. there's another car on the right? Well, I will still go to another lane and pretend trying to cut him off, and go back to left lane again and stay CLOSE with that slow car. It works everytime. The driver got scared and switched lane. 😛

<< Is there anything more infuriating? >>

when idiots cut into your lane and proceed at a slower speed than you and you have to step on the brake. and for those who say they will step on the brake if someone high beams ya.. ever thought that you might've cut into someone else's path? stuppid idiots!

Saving time has nothing to do with it. It's just driving at 25mph on an empty road drives some people nuts. I guess you've never experienced that.

I've experienced it, and it's frustrating. But I dont think I'd do anything drastic if the whole road is one minute long. BTW, i agree with your sig. Go yanks.

I didn't read the thread after this so sorry if I'm repeating what has already been said. OK then, here I go. If you had actually READ THE DRIVER'S ED MANUAL you'd know that flashing high-beams is the universal driving signal for "I want to pass you, please move left.". This is why almost every car has what is called a FLASH TO PASS feature for the headlights. You sir, are a perfect example of why America needs a far more comprehensive driver training program.

Here in NC, we call that person an A$$HOLE! 😛

That really pisses me off! I cannot stand it when I am in a rush and some "Blue-haired" Snowbird decides to drive 45 in the fast lane. They are so unaware that they fail to notice when you're flicking your highbeams, honking your horn and riding their butt to communicate that they need to switch lanes. WTF! Semis, Vans and anyone old enough for social-security need not be in the fast lane.

In Europe the fast lane is for passing, once you have passed the slower car you simply move into the middle lane. It should be that way in America too, surely my patience level would increase and my road-rage level would decrease.

I usually pass the slow traffic, double-lined road or not, as long as I have enough visibility. Like speed limits, passing zones are typically very conservatively placed and aren't necessarily the only places were passing is realistic. I pass because I think it's win-win: I get to clear the blockage and the blockage can poke along all they want.

Here in MI the speed limit is 70 and people go 60 sometimes and it annoys me especially when traffic usually goes around 80/85.

When I am driving the limit, I feel no need to move for anyone. End of story, they are breaking the law. But... what I do do when driving "Jessica" is simply drop a gear and get up to say 160 or so when feasible for a minute so I dont have to worry about that ahole anymore, really makes em mad. Its mostly losers in their 3series who think they have a fast car. Or stupid sport bike riders, they are even worse

They may be breaking the law, but one that's set more by politicians than by traffic engineers. However, YOU are breaking a law, too, which is that the left lane is for PASSING only. This IS set by traffic engineers and the consequences of breaking this law are far more dangerous than the consequences of going the design speed of the highway. You force people to pass you on the right or worse, there may be people on the right which means you are HOLDING UP TRAFFIC, yet another law broken there! Gee, it just keeps adding up! You also may make other people very pissed off and they may cut in front of you and slam on the brakes or worse, creating even more dangerous situations.

On the autobahn they have no speed limits, yet the death toll per mile over there is significantly less than the death toll on highways over here. Do you know why? Because their drivers are more well-trained and aren't assholes that think they have the right to hold up traffic!

I know someone who died for doing that. They were hit by the illegal passer. Just be careful about where you pass.. speed limits are set by politicians so they can make more money off tickets but the lines actually have a purpose, and that's safety!

So they're in the left lane going too slow, so what? I give them a half mile or so to pull right, and if they don't, I pass 'em on the left berm. No big deal 😛

Ah Flat... I hope you don't expect anyone here to take you seriously. First you have the holier than thou self righteous mode going. Then all of a sudden you are driving 160 mph (or kph). So which is it?
Self-important egotist you are.
