I have a wireless linksys router plugged into a wired linksys router. Two of us use the wired router and the other two use the wireless router.
I don't know how the wireless connections are, but the wired connections are very slow (cable internet). I had no problems with speed when only using the wired router. However, when either plugging my ethernet cable into the wireless router directly or hooking the wireless router up to my wired router there is an enormous amount of lag, at least for the wired users.
Running a trace route shows a ping of 11 to the router, but then 1000-2000 to the rest of the servers. Does anyone know why the wireless router may be slowing things down? I heard there is a hack to make wireless routers take the bandwidth from wired users and give it to wireless users. I don't know if this is true or not. Anyone have any ideas?
Also, is there some way I can monitor the bandwidth usage of each person? None of the computers are networked, they are all just sharing an internet connection.
