I've got a D-Link DCM-100 cable modem, through a Netgear RP614v2 router.

Back when Comcast was offering 3000kbps service, I was topping out at 2500.
Now that they're at 6000 max, I'm still topping out at 2500.

I've tried all the tweaks I know of, including Speedguides WinXP tweaker, and CableNut. No change. I'm left with hardware issues as the cause. What do you think?

DCM-100 Cable modem
RP614v2 router
Marvell Yukon 10/100 network connection on motherboard.
for the rest of the system, see my rig link below.

I'm concerned about the bandwisth because I want to add a second internet phone, and I'm a bit of a downloader.

Thanks for any ideas/help.

i believe that Dlink is an old DOCSIS 1.0 model.. if you wanna get your full advertised speeds from comcast, you will need to upgrade to a DOCSIS 2.0 modem...

i work for comcast, and that modem is on our EOL (end of life) list

so yes, an upgrade would help
