Slow HD Tach Times KT266A Shuttle AK31 V3.1

Hello All:

I'm having slow times in HD Tach 2.61. My motherboard is a Shuttle AK31 V3.1 KT266A and the hard drive is a Western Digital Caviar 30GB 7200 RPM. I'm testing in Windows XP with the latest VIA 4in1 Driver.

The results are:

Random Access Time 13.7ms
Read Burst Speed 100MB
Read Speed:
Max 33249.0kps
Min 11500.0kps
Avg 24169.6kps

These seem about right for a 5400RPM drive if anyone has any idea why it's so low please let me know.

your problem is that you installed the latest via drivers. I've found that HD speed is faster if you just use windows default drivers if you run XP
