Slow email delivery hotmail->gmail, anyone else?

For some reason, when either me or my wife email my gmail account, it takes several hours for the email to arrive. Like yesterday, my wife emailed me something at 2pm. I got home from work and she complained that I never wrote her back. I told her I never got the email. So that night we did some tests.

I got instant delivery to gmail from another gmail account, from my verizon account, and from hotmail if I sent it through outlook express (Does that go through hotmail or does that go through my local pop account?). Emails sent via web hotmail from my account and my wifes account never arrived.

This morning I got into work and checked my gmail account. The test message I sent myself from hotmail at 9:30 last night arrived at 2:19am. The test message she sent me from her hotmail at 9:30 last night arrived at 3:49am. The email she sent me from her hotmail at 2pm yesterday arrived at 7:19am this morning!

This isn't the first time either. So is hotmail intentionally delaying gmails, or is this a gmail problem, or what?

Yeah, the same think was happening to my wife, however, I wasn't getting any of her hotmail e-mails. Hotmail just blows now.

It most definitely looks like a hotmail problem. Even hotmail message send back to itself is not send/received immediately. hotmail was able to receive my ISP email immediately but not my GMail. But emails between my ISP and GMail accounts, send/receive were almost instanteous.

Hotmail is definitely messed up. It seems to mostly be a problem with sending messages -- anything I've written from my Hotmail account gets lost for a long while (2 days+) before it shows up, this is as of Sunday. The messages have (mostly) been making it to their intended destinations but not always, or not yet anyway.

I assume it's a result of their upgrades to meet that storage space increase. If I could hook up MSN Messenger to check say... my gMail account, well then I'd really be loving it, but as I like Messenger so much I've just got to patiently wait for them to fix their service.

Hotmail is always extremely slow. It would usually take several hours to get hotmail messages from my friend and this wasn't using gmail.

You don't have to use a hotmail address to use MSN Messenger.

Please explain. MSN can't check my gMail account can it? Can it even check a POP3 account?

GMail Notifier pops up and tell you when you have new Gmail. Thus negating the need for Hotmail.

My hotmail account is really screwed up now. Seems like it doesn't recieve any messages lol. I haven't tried sending any but recently I haven't gotten anything.

Had the same problem and is getting a bit annoying.

Don't really want to give up this account since it's my main for the past 8 or so years.
