Slow CD burning in iTunes

I'm having trouble when burning CDs in iTunes on Windows XP SP3 with iTunes 7.7

It takes a very long time to get through the "Preparing Disc" stage when burning a disc. But this only seems to happens when burning Purchased tracks. It will eventually burn, after preparing the disc for 20 minutes or so.

But, if I try to burn my own MP3s, it goes directly to the "Writing Disc" stage and the disc is burned quickly.

Burning purchased songs takes forever. Any ideas?

iTunes has to alter the DRM on the AAC files while converting them into CDA files to play in standard cd music players.

But I don't think it's ever taken this long before. Should it really take 20 minutes to "prepare" the disc?
