Slow Burn Speed after Firmware Upgrade

so i recently flashed the firmware on my sony dvd rw dru-710A and the burn speed for nero drastically decreased. I used to be able to burn a full 4.7 gb dvd in less than 15 mins but now it takes over 30. the burner displays that it is burning at 8x, which is the same speed as before. the dvds that i'm using are the same ones from before the upgrade. any ideas?

Your drive may have reverted to PIO Mode.
Go back and make sure its running in Ultra DMA mode.
