Slow boot...

:Q Ever since I removed Comet Cursor, my Windows Me boot up is slow. After the last program (Zone Alarm) loads, it waits 30 seconds before doing a final load from the hard drive (which activates the mouse).

I did a boot log and got a failure of:

Syscritinitfailed=VIAGART
Dynamic load failed (0017F5AC) File not found.

Any idea what this is? I notice VIAGART is a static vxd, whatever that means...

Thanks.

Did you use Ad-aware to remove that spyware? If not go here to get Ad-aware and run it. Not sure this will help your boot problem, but maybe something left over from Comet is causing it, and Ad-aware is just the thing to get rid of the left over bits............ gl

try installing the latest 4-in-1's, that will probably replace the file that is having the error

Since you are using an Intel chipset based mobo, you have no need for the VIAGART.vxd file. Even tho this error is listed in the bootlog.txt, it may not actually be a problem. Seems odd that it is trying to initialize in the 1st place...... Do a step-by-step boot, when it comes to the line about VIAGART, answer no and see if the pause............
