slotket: can i upgrade my p2 300?

Just wondering. I got a P2 300mhz laying around the place and I was wondering if a socket-370 slotket coupled with a Celeron would work as an upgrade? Does it depend on the motherboard? I assume all P2's use slot 1 configuration (sorry I don't know much about Intel, more of an AMD freak). Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! 🙂

I did this a little while ago, and it worked. I had a P2 233, and upgraded it to a Celeron 600 using a slotket adapter like you wanted to do, and it works great.

great thanks ..... actually this was sent to me as a review sample, now i gotta find some place to get a free celeron or trade it in for something 😱)

Yes. Not all mobo can bcoz u need to have vcore adjustment & a coppermine support bios.

Ask a guy named "oldfart" here in AT. He is experienced in these area. What mobo u have ?

Depends a lot on the mobo. A PII 300 could be on an LX (66 MHz) mobo. You need to find out exactly what you have.
