Slot fans

I've been looking at slot fans online. I was wondering how much of an effect they actually have on temps? Does anyone use these? Do they lower your case/cpu temps?

Thanks

They are not too effective for lowering your system temps, but I put one directly below my video card
and it lowered my GPU temp by 10 degrees.

Not really... That's one of those "it depends...." kind of questions.

I didn't see ANY difference in system temperature when I first got it. That was a pretty
bad case with poor ventilation (which is where I would have expected any fan, even a small one
to make some difference.

Now with a well ventillated case, I didn't expect to see any system temp difference... and didn't

But like I said.... it did a good job of rejecting heat from a my Video card....

I use one for my video card also. IMO, I'd recommend buying a name brand slot cooler, such as Antec, as it should last longer. I bought a ~$8 one and it died within a couple of months, while the Antec I replaced it with has been going strong for several months now.

I use one of these in my home theater PC. Its a MSI 6215 case so options for cooling are quite limited. Linky As the primary exhaust fan it does a good job, especially for the limited space, however for a regular case I'm guessing that it would have little impact.
