Slot coolers.. are they any good?

By using a PCI slot cooler right beneath my graphics card, will it help cool my GF2 Pro any or is it kind of a waste of money? I'm trying to get more of an overclock out of it before going out and spending $10000 on the newest and greatest (for the next 3 months). Also, can anyone recommend a decent, inexpensive one? Noise isn't an issue too much, but I'd prefer under 30db.
 
I have only tried one, a generic slot cooler. I didn't think it really put out that much air. I would spend my money on a decent 80mm case fan and just kick out the slot plate under your vid card to direct some of the air flow that way.
Just my 2 cents.
