Bought a Golden Orb with a 700 Thunderbird..

this my first experience at building a slot A
and I could use some help. They sent a packet of paste with the orb..Does this need to cover the heatplate? Also There are no diagrams, and I can't
find a picture or example online..Which way does
this thing fit on...i can't tell the top
from the bottom. Will it matter? Don't want to cook my bird before it can even fly...

Yes, put the thermal paste on. THat will transfer heat better from the heatplate to the orb. The GO should have clips right? I don't think there are any preferences as to what orientation they should be attached. Just attach the orb to the heatplate with those clips and make sure the surfaces flush and contact well. That is all that you need is to make sure the surfaces make tight contact.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the help...I did get the msi kpro up and running..
Hope to be able to flash the bios next. This is my first experience with a slot A system...This forum really helps.

If you have questions about AMD products and AMD related peripherals, head over to AMD zone forum. Go to www.slota.com and then to messageboard. In that forum, you will find the most wackiest yet coolest people around. It seems like all AMD-related experts dwell there and call it their home. Any question you did help on, there will always be someone who will come up with answers. One thing though, we can get rowdy sometimes. Of course, some AMD zone forum's members also visit this forum but we are more like visitors than dwellers.
