I was wondering where you could get a slot 1 to socket 370 adapter.
(I don't want a new Motherboard until i get a new case because i have no case hardware.)

you do mean to put a socket 370 cpu onto a slot 1 board right? That would in fact be a slocket, and good luck inding one.

A month ago, roughly, I was in a local computer resale shop that refurbishes Dell hardware, and saw a half dozen of those Slotkets hanging on a pegboard rack. What is funniest about seeing that many in one place is that even when Slot1 PC's were fairly popular, I never heard of a storefront operator carrying that item -- it was mail order only to get them then. Of course, we are talking a digital desert of a marketing area at the time (south Texas isn't exactly a mecca for PC Geeks).

I have another question. I have the stock compaq deskpro mobo. I have never updated my bios. I don't even know wich bios i have. Does it support a pentium III or a slow celeron

I assume since your asking if its supports a pentium III, it currently has a PII in it, by that i conclude it will support any coppermine PIII with 100mhz FSB, unless the mobo dosent support 100 mhz FSB. If the PII in it is 333mhz or below you should check if it supports 100mhz FSB if its 350mhz+ then it does support 100mhz FSB and may take up to a 1ghz coppermine. I think they came in 100mhz FSB flavour, not too sure.

If that doesn't work out... i'd consider the same deal. Have a few of them one might work better for you. Now... that is if the cleaner of the house didn't toss it out as rubbish. Hit me up on PM if phax can't hook you up.

If you think a slotket is hard to find, try finding a P3 1ghz 100 FSB S370 chip. I have one thats still being used by my father-in-law and can't find them anywhere anymore.
