Sloppy computer performance

Hello,

This is my first post on these forums. I hope i put this in the right cell. And I'd like to apologize my bad English skills, since I'm not from UK/Usa.

Here is computer specifications:

Amd Opteron 144 1.8GHz + Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 64 (1.8GHz-2.0GHz -> same results)
MSI Geforce 6800 GS 256MB PCI-E (haven't OC'ed)
Asrock 939Dual-Sata2
Maxtor 80Gb IDE
Fortron 350W
2 x 512 MB DDR400Mhz (some very cheap memory)
Windows XP Home SP1
Kerio Personal Firewall
Avast! Antivirus

And here is my problem:

I ran 3dMark05 and it gave me about 3500 points. The "normal" result with GF6800GS would be a bit over 5000 (every benchmark I've seen with GF6800GS). I don't have AA/AF on and my graphic card's drivers are 81.98.

Also, I've installed Battlefield 2 and Special Forces on my computer. I use 800 x 600 @ 75Hz and ALL settings are set on LOW and I'm still getting a very, very low fps. When I'm in a helicopter for an example, my fps is between 10 and 20.

V-sync is off and CPU/GPU/Mobo temperatures are fine.

Any suggestions?

Could you tell me which drivers I should download from Asrock homepage?

http://www.asrock.com/product/939Dual-SATA2.htm

(The "Drivers"-site is currently down)

Everest says this about my memory:

DIMM1: Transcend (512 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
DIMM2: Nanya M2U51264Ds8HC3G-5T

Both sticks are 512MB

Everest shows this about "Nanya's" memory:

Memory timings

@ 200 MHz 3.0-3-3-8 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS)
@ 166 MHz 2.5-3-3-7 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS)

And this about Transcend's memoery:

Memory timings

@ 200MHz 2.5-3-3-8 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS)
@ 166MHz 2.0-3-3-7 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS)

CL = Cas Latency (or something like that?) is different. Is that the problem?

Thank you.

Not sure on the memory to be honest - someone else should be able to clarify that. As far as I can see from other sites you'd need nForce 4 drivers for that motherboard. When you installed Windows did you install any motherboard drivers at all? The motherboard CD should tell you what drivers it needs and you can then get the latest ones online

Ok. Hope someone will clarify that memory thingy.

Actually I didn't install Windows. I changed Mobo, GPU, CPU and added one memory stick. Read from another forum and someone said that he got the system working without re-installing Windows. But if I don't get this to work, I will re-install Windows.

This Mobo's chipset is ULi M1695. My brother installed drivers from the Motherboard CD. Could you tell me the site where you read about that Nforce4 drivers. I'd like to check it.

I used to have D1520 (Some old Fujitsu-Siemens motherboard). I ran 3dMark05 with only 1 memory stick -> ~1650 points and then I ran it with 2 memory sticks -> ~1750 points! This ain't funny anymore.

Thanks for the link by the way.

Check if you are running dual channel and both of your memory should be running at 3CAS, that would knock some points off there. memtest86 the memory as well.

Checked spyware and antivirus? Is the driver the newest one from the manufacturer?

I'm running Dual Channel at the moment.

Could you tell me how I can check if my memorys are running at 3CAS? I'm not really that good with computers. I actually can't run memtes because my floppy drive is not installed. I'll try to install that.

I checked my computer with Spybot Search&Destroy and with Ad-aware -> didn't help. Haven't checked my computer with Avast! yet.

"Is the driver the newest one from the manufacturer? "
What drivers do you mean?

I think he means the motherboard drivers - the ASRock Download page is working again this morning - get the drivers from there and ensure they're all installed to see if this helps

I set Cas latency as 3.0 and it did improve 3dMark05 scores but I'm not getting the scores I'm supposed to. BF2/SF is not running properly neither.

I've already downloaded CPU-Z (even OC'ed my CPU -> no help at all). Memory's running at about ~210MHz and CPU at ~2.3GHz. I set memory's on 1T and they are working in Dual Channel.

By the way, when I changed 2T to 1T, I got about ~950 points in 3dMark05.

I install Windows XP Pro and see if that helps.
