slive! and cdrom dma

i've heard that people that were having random freeze problems when using the sblive! on the iwill kk266 got rid of the problem my disabling dma on their cd-roms. has this worked for anyone? also, would turning off dma majorly effect my cdrom performance? thanks.. the onboard audio is ok.. but i want my EAX for counter-strike!

Yes, disabling the DMA would affect your cdrom performance. There have been several little tricks on getting around this. I chose to arrainge my cards so the motherboard bios and windows assigned the IRQ's the same. The only tweek I had to do was assign IRQ5 as legacy ISA(to keep DOS support for my SBLive).
