Slipstreaming w/o full version of Nero

boomerang

Lifer
I've been googling and searching the forums because I remember a site that had info on Slipstreaming with an OEM version of Nero. I can't seem to find it.

Actually I remember it as using a free utility someone had come up with that did the whole job.

Or maybe my memory is failing me?

Anyone know what I'm what I'm talking about, or am I really loosing it?

That looks pretty slick. But the problem is that there is no way to burn an ISO from Nero OEM.

I don't burn CD's as a rule. A few files from time to time to transfer to a new build. I don't want to purchase software just to slipstream.

I had a full version of Nero, but sold it along with an older CDRW. I have my own XP Pro slipstreamed but would like to slipstream some XP Home disks I bought at a K-Mart closeout on software. They are pre SP1a versions.

I can just do a double install, it's not really a biggie.

Nice link though. 🙂

Perhaps construct the image file however you might wish (on your own, or with the aid of the above mentioned utility), and then make use of a freeware burning solution capable of burning images? Here and here are two examples. Certainly there are others.

I can burn ISOs with Nero OEM. It's under File / Burn Image.

I have no File menu.

I have explored around quite a bit and can't come across it. The thing is, that I swear I had it at one time. I downloaded the upgrade from the Nero site with the hopes of getting what I needed.

I usually open the software using the StartSmart icon.

Could you do a step by step for the Nero challenged? I feel like a real noob here, but I can't find it.

Did you slipstream SP-1 and then slipstream SP-2 into that? SP-2 contains all that is in SP-1.

Are you using version 6 or 5.5?

EDIT: StartSmart is version 6. Instructions for burning an image are here (PDF).

Go to Nero Express in SmartSuite, you`ll see it as " disc image or saved project" at bottom of "what would you like to burn?"

Thanks everyone for all the help and advice.

I got poking around the Nero site and realized that they had demos that were full featured for a specific time period.

I downloaded one and had at it. Simplified my life.
