Hey, I've got a copy of NAV '02 and I want to be able to make a copy of CD that uses the latest virus definitions instead of the old stock ones .. Just wondering if anyone knows how to do this/has done this. I use NAV all the time at work, so tryin to make my life easier .. thanks in advance

Neuralfx, I see what your trying to do, but do you really need it? Nav will download the newest defs right after install via LiveUpdate.

ya I know. The thing is, I use NAV in a shop, where I like to run it from cd. Even when I install it, it becomes very impractical to connect every machine I work on to the Internet, in some cases I end up spending more time trying to get the machine on the Net than cleaning the virus.. It may not be possible though, but just in case if anyone knows drop me a line .. thanks

Let me ask the consumer guys at work. This is easy with the corporate version, but with consumer I'm not sure it will be setup to do what you want (do to the subscription licensing and whatnot). I'll let you know if I find a way to do it.

Corporate customers have access to the directly download our defs with what we call 'the intelligent updater'. Basically it's an exe carrying the defs that will update the current system. Some corps just put that on the same helpdesk cd as the install. This was, after install, they skip liveupdate and just run the updater. It does become a pain as defs are (more and more) updating daily. Then again, cd's are just a couple cents so if your doing this daily I guess you can grab the latest/greatest in the am and burn your disk and go.
