Slipstream CDs and additional software

At the office where I work, we have slipstream CDs, and can use them to install fully updated copies of windows, which saves a lot of time: instead of installing manually XP and waiting for updates to download, we just install windows from the slipstream, which does the windows installation automatically and includes the updates.

However, just about every machine that we build also needs to have Symantec Antivirus and a Citrix client installed, too. I imagine that since the slipstream CD can install things like optional drivers, we could use the same sort of mechanism to install SAV and Citrix, which would make life even easier. I'm researching it, but have yet to find anything. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

As far as I know, this isn't possible with XP under normal circumstances. It should be possible under Vista, and it may be possible under XP with the right tools. Look at WinPE.

Take a look at nlite, I believe this allows you to slipstream both updates, drivers and possibly applications.

We've actually been using nLite. According to this, we can use nLite to install applications by integrating them as hotfixes, which would be very cool.
