Bitstreamed HD Audio via HDMI

Already posted. It is a good feature to include, but it's only use is for troubleshooting receivers with nonstandard implementation of (or just flat out missing) decoding features. Of course, that's like 50% of new receivers so they should have included it on the Heavy in the first place.

Not quite, if you like applying your receivers acoustical effects to your sound it won't work using LinearPCM but it will if you output via Bitstream. As of right now with fats you can either use HD sound or you can use your receivers sound processing features, not both at the same time.

Of course, I'd have to question why an audiophile would want to apply any effects. The goal of any audiophile should be transparency. Even though a lot of people have asked for this, at the end of the day all it really does is make the HD Audio icons light up on your receiver.

Actually, some receivers do the opposite. Yes to LPCM, no to DTS-MA/TrueHD. 😕 Receivers are simply the most hellish pieces of electronics you are likely to find in a home.

Anyway, that's why bitstreaming is good for troubleshooting.
