Slight heatsink issue

I am switching cases. I thought that I would take this opportunity to redo my heatsink.

It is a stock heatsink on a 6300. The problem is, is that one of the pins that holds the hs down won't release. When I turn it, it just clicks.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

take out the motherboard from case, and squeeze/push heatsink pin out from the other side.

Well crap.. It looks like my temps are about 5 degrees higher... That is not good. I moved to an Antec P180B. So, I don't think that the case is the issue. I must have reseated the stuipid thing incorrectly..

What thermal paste are you using? You will want to clean off the old material and apply fresh paste whenever you remove the heatsink.

Well, I cleaned off the original thermal pad that came with the heatsink. Then I applied some generic silver paste I had picked up at Microcenter. I will have to check the actual brand name. I put a line right down the center of the chip since that is what everything I had read said.
