In regards to SLI (since I have been out of computing for a few years), do you have to use 2 Vid cards with exact same everything??? Say same manufacturer, same mem clock, same core clock, same mem amount??? or can any of these be different???

It used to be the same everything, now I believe you can mix manufacturers and even speeds, but it has the be the same card. So a 7800 GS will not work with a 7800 GTX. but a 7800 GS @ 400 Mhz will work with a 7800 GS @ 300 Mhz, the faster one will clock itself even with the lower one.

No, you used to have to when it first came out. Same brand, same bios, but not now.

As long as they are of the same family (ie a 7800GT and 7800GTX wont mix) then it will work. As long as you're using newer drivers that support it. They added it not too long ago.

thanks guys, a few more questions so I understand correctly, will it always clock to lower speeds,... and what about mem management, if say i had a 6600 gt with 128mb and got a 6600gt with 256mb,.. would this work, would the full 256 on 2nd card be used or will it use just 128 of it???

I don't think it will work at all... But if it did work, it would have to chop off 128 from one of those cards. But IIRC they will not even be compatable.
