SLI is only worth it if you can buy top of the line right away, byt the time he can afford a second card, it won't give him enough boost to play the games on the market at that time at the settings he wants(im assuming he wants to play on high), so he'll want to buy a whole new card all together.

SLi is a waste of money. You can get a better card which will outdo a dual GPU setup.

You know what would be funny, if someone tried running dual X800's in an SLi instead of Geforce cards at the moment, or cross-mixing a Radeon and a Geforce or SiS video card or something like that. That would be awesome!

I believe the card has to have an SLI connector on it, which rules our Radeons and lower end Geforces.

I don't think it HAS to have an SLI connector.

I thought I saw an article somewhere where they ran SLI with and without the connector and while you CAN do it, there is a performance hit.

I coulda been intoxicated though.

i remember something like that also, but i think it was the initial boards.....the connector was where they were all heading. i think :)
