what exactly does SLI do....does it share everything between the two cards, such as video ram, if you had two 128MB cards in sli, you would have 256MB, or is it something else?
 
nope. each card has to have the same data in the ram; so you only get 128MB with 128MB cards, but 256MB with 256MB cards.
each card can render the 128MB data seperately though, so you get a ~80% performance increase.
is this not right?

kind of

basically, one card renders the top half of the screen while the other renders the bottom half

depends how it's programmed.. go back and read initial sli reveiw. anand was very detailed..

there are two options, SPF (split frame rendering) or AFR (alternate frame rendering). some games work better with one, some with the other.
