sli with 7600gt

I was thinking about going with sli for a 7600gt and wanted to know if you have to have same brand for both. Alrdy purchased one but found another brand on sale and wasn't sure if would cause a problem. They aren't set to same speeds, one is 580mhz and 1500mhz for ram and other is 590Mhz and 1600mhz. Thanks for any help.

not sure myself but personally i would make sure thier both exactly the same to avoid any potential problems near or future, no sense in taking the risk for that kind of money

Multi-vendor SLI should work with any recent driver.

The Nvidia website states that the latest drivers will allow you to use any vendor as
long as it is the same type of card (i.e. 6600gt & gt, but now with a gs).

Can I ask why you're doing 7600 sli? If I were you I would either get the 7900gt and save 100 bucks or spend 100 more and get the 7900gtx. I think those (7600) in sli are a waste..

At higher resolutions, a single 7900GT will beat out 7600GT in SLI.

Well in BF2 the 7600SLI wins happily.
Same in FEAR
Same in quake
Same in splinter cell

The 7600GT SLI system is more powerful, with the exception of ultra high resolutions, ie 2048x1536+

not sure going to go sli, I already have 1 7600gt and besides my monitor doesnt support 2048x1536 plus at those resolutions only getting 20-35 fps so will get slow down. Since that is an average and not the lowest score not sure would even be playable at times. Well that was my reasoning besides the fact already have one.

Yeah the 7600 is a great card, and although I generally dont recommend SLI, I think with the low power consumption of these cards and the good bang for the buck it is actually one of the most viable SLI solutions out there.

Well, if you already have one, than you either need to sell it, or go the whole way.

I knew that a 7900GT would beat them out at higher resolutions, I just didnt remember that they were insanely high resolutions.

Seeing as you already have a 7600GT, I suggest you just go ahead and get another. Unless you want to somehow sell the one you already have.
