Sli users , some help please

I just found a thread at Extreme system that helps you mod any motherboard into using sli. I used method 2 for windows 64 bit.

original source...

It says in the article, if you screw it up, it won't boot.
Well my board booted fine.

My question is, If I don't have a second card installed, should it still give me the option in the Nvidia contol panel to sli now that the board supports sli? Will it just be grayed out?
Or...Do you have to have a second card installed for it to show up in the driver or controll panel.

I don't want to waste money buying another gtx 260 if it won't work.

Cpu-z reports I have a x58 southbridge so it must have worked.
I guess I need to have 2 video cards hooked up to have the option to enable in the Nvidia controll panel.

Thanks anyway.
