SLI-ready memory

Hey guys, i have this gskill ddr2-1000 2x2gb memory in my 780i right now and will be using 2 8800gt for sli, will there be any problem using my gskill memory? does it have to be sli certified? i went to slizone.com and i didnt see any gskill memories listed there.

I fail to see how your system memory could have any bearing on being able to have SLI video cards or not.

It's really just EPP, which means they pump some more volts into your RAM to make it faster.

Think of "SLI memory" as an extension of SPD... It contains extra information about the modules, the frequencies/timings they can run and the voltage required to make them run at those speeds.

Assuming you set your BIOS correctly to match your memory you don't need to worry. And as the others mentioned (but failed to explain in detail) it is unrelated to SLI video.

In short, you're fine.

Hmm i c.. so what should i put in my 780i bios? it has the option of SLI-enabled memory. Disabled or expert?

disable it and set the timings yourself. I am not familiar with a Nvidia BIOS, but you should have a manual, right?
