SLi question

I was considering buying another 8800 GT and motherboard so I could take advantage of SLi. However, after chatting with some friends, they stated unless I'm running a large monitor at high resolutions, I would see no real performance boost. I know little about SLi, but to me it would seem 2 video cards sharing the load would be nothing but better (naive, I know).

I'm running a 19" monitor and it's not widescreen. Are they right that I wouldn't see much of a performance boost?

If they're wrong, what is a good motherboard for running SLi? Preferably for under $200.

They are right. Especially on a 19" monitor.

Yes right now you'd be better off to save your money and either buy a nice new monitor that can support higher resolutions, or wait and buy one of the new 200 series cards when the come out.
