Sry bout the Newb question :p For SLI does it have to be the same manufacturer?? AKA, BFG, Leadtek, etc...

i think so but even if it doesn't need to be the same, i'm sure it's highly recommended to avoid problems

No, I know people who have mismatched video card brands. XFX, EVGA....etc. But as Alimoalem posted, it's probably recommended to avoid problems.

NO you do NOT need the same manufacturer. You can run eVGA with BFG with leadtech with XFX with any other brand. All you have to do is make sure the cards are the same chipset ie 7800GT with 7800GT (I think they default to the slower card so you could use a standard card with one that comes OC'd from the factory)

In the past you had to, even had to be the same bios revision on the video card. But the latest drivers have fixed those issues, you can match any brand together, all that matters is that they are the same core and same "model." Ie a 7900GT and a 7900GT. You cant mix a 7900GT and a 7900GTX
