SLI Problem

My friend got a second pci-e video card for his system recently and we installed it correctly with the bridge. And when we start windows, it gets recognized. Then when we try to enable sli mode in video settings, we get the blue screen of death, and his computer restarts. We also have the latest nvidia drivers. I tried flashing the bios but that didn't work either. His specs are:

Msi platinum sli
Athlon 64 3200
1 gb ram
evga 6600 gt
evga 6600 gt

PSU issue perhaps but not likely since it boots into windows. What does the BSOD state? Perhaps you can google the error message to get an answer. Have you tried to unistall the drivers completely and reinstalling them? I am just throwing out ideas because I only own one 7800GTX so I am unfamiliar with SLI modes.

Hahaha, "only one 7800GTX" eh?

Try what micheal did, and then try SLI without the bridge. I think nvdia's later drivers support that, and who knows what might be the problem. Alos try booting with just the new card in. This is to check if the new card is not the culprit.

Did you install drivers for boths cards? Uninstall the drivers and then follow the directions on Nvidias site to make sure your doing it correctly. If that doesnt work try it without the SLI bridge. Failing that make sure both 6600GT are of the same revision.

I have the exact same issue. It all began with the 8x.xx drivers. Seriously, try any of the 70-series drivers (XtremeG has a 79.something that is really good) and you'll see what I mean. If your situation is exactly like mine, it doesn't BSOD right when you enable SLI, it's when you try to go into the Advanced Properties AFTER you enable SLI (to, for example, change up game profiles and whatnot).

Right now, I've chosen to just live with it and not go to the Advanced Properties. I edit all my game profiles from the XML file in the windows\system dir.

Both cards work fine individually. Both cards work fine in SLI in games/windows. It just BSODs when accessing that Advanced Properties, and it ONLY happens with the 8x.xx drivers.
