the availablilty of a 7900GTX over the newer cards is definately not equal, so keep that in mind....

anyways, how much would you be willing to spend on a new card, because that is a large part of the question, also another thing to take into consideration is what resolution do you play games at?

The last time i priced the 7900 GTX...it was around 600.00$..that price is no problem, I expect that much or a little moor. Resolution---i run it as high as my computer will handle.and yes my monitor will handle it.....THANKS

With a rudimentary Google products search, the lowest price I turned up on a 7900GTX was $250. You might be able to find one cheaper on Ebay.

At that $250 price, you're most certainly better off buying a new card, seeing as the 8800GT is around $250 anyway. A single 8800GT is going to beat 2 7900GTXs.

for that price, you can wait a month or so and get a 9800GX2 for $600-700.

or if you want awesome performance of the 8800GTX for $250-400, get an 8800GT 512MB or 8800GTS 512MB.

All of these cards are based off the G92 chip.

It's never a good idea to buy a second card of the last generation, because 1 new card is as fast or faster than 2 old ones, while also offering newer features and better image quality. Instead of hunting for a second gtx, just sell it while you still can for about $100, and get a new 8800gt or 8800gts 512M. Either one of those is easily 2x as fast as the 7900gtx.

Thanks for all the info..
Wow, The price of cards has droped. When i priced the 7900gtx it was around 600$. It was a good card.. Now the 8800- is around 400$, and what i have read about it,it is a very good card. I also did not know that one of the newer cards would be better than two of the 7900 series in SLI Config. That seems to have answered by questions I will start looking at the info on the 8800 series and go that way.
Thanks.

If you're spending $400 on an 8800 series card, you're probably paying too much.

Where are you located, and what card are you looking at buying?
