SLI or Single Card

I've heard that each SLI slot has a bandwidth of 8x, and put together that would equal 16x. So basically, SLI is like putting two AGP cards together, except the interface is PCI-E (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, I'm wondering what would be faster, 2x 6600GTs, or 1x 6800 GT. ** I know it should be close, but I'm thinking maybe get an SLI board, go with 1x 6800GT now, and then stick in another 6800GT in the future. ** Here's the specs:

2x 6600GTs
Leadtek Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT Extreme
550 MHz Core
1120 MHz Memory

6800GT
350 MHz Core
1000 MHz Memory

1x6800gt is better. SLi for anything under the top card or 2 is worthless since you can get similar performance for less or equal $, better features, less heat, less energy consumption, less bugs with non sli optomised games, etc.

btw, that 6800gt will easily be able to oc to 6800ultra speeds most fo the time furthering their lead. The 6600gt will be faster at 10x7 or below but once the AA or higher resolutions kick in, the 6800gt will dominate.

ermm..isn't that ass backwards? The 6600's will get whomped until you scale to higher resolutions with higher options, no?

I think Cheese is correct. This is merely due to the 128bit bus width.

Personally i would get the 6800GT and if you feel so compelled or find a good deal then throw another one in there.
