SLI or one big vid card

I currently have an 8800 GTS. Should I purchase a 9800 GTX / or GX2 or should I just put in another 8800 GTS. Are there any performance charts that compare these two setups? I'm not sure what would be the better future investment or price vs performance ratio.

Edit: I'm sorry I have 8800 GTS not 8600 GTS

Adding a second 8600 won't even come close to a single more powerful card. However, I wouldn't recommend a 9800GX2 straightaway. What are you planning, what's your monitor setup, etc?

Which model 8800GTS? G80 with 320MB or 640MB, or G92 with 512MB? You'll need to find a matching card, and that's assuming you already have an Nvidia SLI motherboard.

If you feel that you do need to improve performance, wait a while and see what nvidia and AMD/ATI come up with in the summer. SLI isn't a great upgrade path; you'd be better off buying a single better card than adding an older mediocre one.

 It's a shame this sage advice couldn't prevent so many ppl back in the day buying SLI motherboards and an 8600, believing they were only another 8600 away from SLI mega power.
