SLI issues

Hello all,

i'm having trouble getting my Dell 2001FP to work with my SLI configuration. I've read about other people having similar troubles.

When I connect my DVI connector to the computer with the SLI bridge connector on the monitor doesn't work. If I take the bridge connector off it works fine. Is the a common issue with SLI?

Also, when I have the bridge connector off the cards and the DVI connection working, I get little green flickering lines at the bottom right part of my task bar. If I use a VGA connection this doesn't happen.

One more thing, I don't get any option to enable multi-gpu in my options, with our without the bridge connector.

XP home
A64 3500+
550W enermax PSU
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
Duel BFG 6800 GT
1GB corsair ram

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I tried that both ways. I called BFG tech support and they said try switching the cards around, I tried that and it did nothing. I went into bios and changed the SLI setting from SLI to auto, saved and rebooted. Well, now the computer won't even give me a display, just a long beep from the motherboard and no video. I'm stumped, so is BFG.

Any other insight?

Update:

I cleared the cmos and put a pci card in so I could get video. I changed the SLI setting instead of auto, bingo I get video from the geforce again. However, I still have the problem with DVI and no option to enable multi-gpu. Back to square one.

I'd recommend this:

1. Setup your mobo for non-SLI. (remove the 2nd video card...uses black slot, flip the circuit board to single card, change bios settings)
2. Test both video cards in PCI-Express slot #1 to ensure that they are both working properly (just try to reach windows desktop)
3. If both are able to get you to the desktop then reconfigure for SLI.
4. Check your monitor to make sure there isn't some switch that you have to flip in order to use DVI as opposed to VGA connector.
5. Try using the "Auto-Adjust" button on the monitor (most lcds have this)
6. I doubt this matters but you could try installing the SLI bridge in reverse (compared to your origianl install) Mine is installed so that the top of the "A" in Asus is pointed toward the back of the case. I'm not sure if this PCB bridge can even be installed in either direction (I'm writing from work).
7. Verify that you have the power plugs connected to BOTH cards.

Hopefully, trying these steps will help point out the issue. What pwr sply are you using and which video drivers? Make sure you are using the latest BIOS for your mobo. Good luck!

edit: You may also want to check your DVI cable for bent or broken pins...

I'm using this power supply. I have the 66.93 drivers and the latest bios.

The DVI worked when I took off the bridge connector, so I don't think it's the cable. Although, i'm not sure about those green flickering lines I talked about earlier. I checked for any options to enable DVI and saw nothing.
