Just one...looking for something cheap.

If you turn off all the eye candy, then I'm pretty sure it will run fine. My friend plays at 1028/786 (I think thats the numbers) with a Gforce 400........ You only need 24 frames in MMorpg

I'm pretty sure the x700 can handle it pretty well (not a threadcrap because it doesn't run SLI)

Funny, the picture shows a card that does not have the SLI connector on top. I hope they put up the wrong picture and will ship cards that do have sli connectors.

The non GT 6600's do not have the connectors. The latest Nvidia driver allows cards to run in SLI without the bridge. These cards did not become SLI certified until the latest driver set came out.

Wouldnt a 6800non gt be a lot faster than 2 6600's in sli and cost about the same ? No sli board needed.

Holycow really? I thought it only added support so that you can run sli with cards that are made by different manufacturers. Ditto to nvidia, they are taking sli to a new level.

Is it the same case for crossfire system also?

Man, I hope you're right... I just ordered 2 based on what you are claiming.

This is going into my $64 refurb A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard found in this Hot Deal thread.

Now to find a processor...

Link to card at BFG website

It DOES say it is SLI ready! edit- I found a quote that says 6600GT and above need the bridge, but these won't. So it looks like I'll be SLI'ing on the cheap. It should get me going for a while... maybe the 7800GTX's will fall in price around my birthday (5 months from now) and I'll treat myself then.

kamranziadar - edit: I think you're thinking of 6800 and actually that's what you said. But the cards at Woot are 6600. No unlocking pipelines (8 in both 6600 and 6600gt) the memory speed and chipclock are higher in the GT model.

What cards can work together in an SLI configuration?
"All PCI Express based GeForce 7800 GTX, GeForce 7800 GT, GeForce 6800 Ultra, GeForce 6800 GT, GeForce 6800, GeForce 6800 XT, GeForce 6800 LE, GeForce 6600 GT, GeForce 6600 and GeForce 6600 LE boards support SLI technology."

What is the function of the SLI connector?
"The SLI connector is a proprietary link between GPUs that transmits synchronization, display, and pixel data. The SLI connector enables inter-GPU communication of up to 1GB/s, consuming no bandwidth over the PCI Express bus. The SLI connector is used with GeForce 6600 GT products and above. For all other SLI-Ready graphics cards, inter-GPU communication is passed through the PCI-Express Bus, instead of through the SLI Connector. For these mainstream GPUs, there is typically enough excess bandwidth across the PCI-Express bus to effectively manage this additional communication. More powerful GPUs (GeForce 6600 GT and above) require the SLI connector to achieve optimal scaling results."

It doesnt perform better

But for me... the passive heatsinks are a major plus. I do very little gaming, so 2 of these for about the same price as a 6600GT works. I like quiet. I have a 6600GT AGP right now and am about to replace the mb, cpu, and video to an AMD setup with SLI. So this will work for me for the time being, and as a bonus should be quiet.

Maybe you should inform people there is no guarentee you can unlock all the pipes and vertex and overclock to a GT speed without inducing artifacts not to mention you only have 128 megs of memory compared to a GT's 256. This is a definate YMMV!

I have never understood why some people choose SLI over a single card. These two cost slightly more than a 6600GT, and perform only slightly better. 2 6600GT's perform about the same as a single 6800GT and cost about the same. But then you have nowhere to go to upgrade. Not to mention the addidtional power supply requirements and the extra heat that radiates from a second card. In my opinion I would rather have a 6600GT and an NV Silencer than 2 lower cards.

Can anyone else think of reason for running 2 cards, aside from being able to say you run SLI? I understand the desire for quiet, but if your case is really that quiet your airflow probably isnt all that high and 2 cards will warm it up more than 1.

P.S. Picking up about a half dozen of these for work. Some people with newer machines were wanting to run dual monitors and it doesn't get much cheaper than this for PCI-E and dual monitors.

Why? b/c of the 256 vs 128? And it's 1 rebate "per product and product type" So 2 would run $208 - $15 MIR = $193. Unless you get someone to buy one for you. That's $50 more than a pair of the ones at woot. Would we see that big of an improvement - we're talking about adding a 1/3rd to the total.

Maybe a better chance of unlocking w/o artifacts?
